The DSNO is deeply concerned that prescribed safer supply initiatives preventing and/or mitigating both individual and community harms, including deaths, are at-risk of defunding, at a time when the evidence1 supports additional investments to support expansion. Urgent, life-saving funding is possible, and essential.

Due to close at the end of December due to an absence of funding, the DSNO is urging immediate financial support to sustain this life-saving service in an area where the mortality rate from opioid-related overdoses is extremely high, and for which the service receives no provincial funding.
